Meet Brad Federman of PDC’s Strategic Leadership Certificate Program


In his 20 year career as a corporate trainer and author, Brad Federman has helped companies turn their business strategies into action and, ultimately, success. By concentrating on improving staff performance, Brad has guided a wide range of companies to greater success in the marketplace. Brad's research on this subject is the basis for his book "Employee Engagement: A Roadmap for Creating Profits, Optimizing Performance, and Increasing Loyalty." Brad’s client list includes FedEx, Kaiser Permanente, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Wal-Mart, Dow Chemical Company, Nextel, New York Life, the Internal Revenue Service, AARP and The University of Texas at Austin. .

CIE's Professional Development Center (PDC) is proud to offer Brad’s expertise as an instructor with the Strategic Leadership Certificate Program. This program is designed to help executives, directors and managers identify their leadership strengths and find ways to enhance their own personal effectiveness. Each participant is trained to use their individual abilities to create a clear, new vision for their organization—a vision that will also boost employee performance, productivity and profitability. Brad teaches two of the four courses that make up the Strategic Leadership Certificate Program. One of those courses, Talent Management Strategy can be taken as part of the program or independently as a “one-off” course.

When asked what it means to be “strategic,” Brad answered: “It means focusing on opportunity rather than risk. We tend to take new ideas and think of organizations in terms of what's wrong or what's at risk. When we focus on remaining safe, we're in a defensive posture. You’ll never win a game if you don’t score goals. In business, we need to be on the offensive. We need to remove fear and not focus on being scared or risky, but focus on what possibilities are out there."
